Whimsy Baby Book

Are you looking for a special baby gift or a way to commemorate a little one's first year? This kit makes a quick, easy, and darn cute baby book. This is an easy project, suitable for crafters of all skill levels. All the products used are from Close To My Heart (CTMH). 

This album is made with the CTMH Whimsy Creative Collection and coordinating Boy or Girl Complements (a collection of vellum, glitter, foil and cardstock sticker embellishments). All the pieces are pre-cut and ready to assemble quickly. For maximum flexibility, you can choose just the items you want in either 6" x 8" or 8" x 8" format. (Kit options below.)

Kit details:

• Basic Kit - Includes pre-cut papers for 12 page layouts, Boy or Girl Complements, and full-color assembly guide. You provide your own base pages (6"x 8" or 8" x 8"), photo placeholders, and album. [$25]
• Better Kit - Includes the Basic Kit PLUS White Daisy cardstock base pages and photo placeholders.  You provide your own album. Choose the size you want:
• 6" x 8" [$28]
• 8" x 8" [$31]
• Best Kit - Includes Better Kit PLUS beautiful Sea Glass Leatherette album and page protectors. This option is available only in 6" x 8". I do not have 8" x 8" albums or page projectors. [$50]

Scrapbooking 101 - Buzz and Bumble Pages Preview

S101 - Summertime Pages for May 16, 2012

Hello friends and Happy Mother's Day . . .

. . . or is it Mothers' Day? I wonder but never remember to look it up.  Maybe someone will post a comment with the real answer.

I had a lovely day today -- Kristian gave me a great Walt Kelly/Pogo book, then we went to brunch at my brother & sister-in-law's house with lots of family and friends, and fantastic food -- followed by a nap, a phone call from Joey, and just enough scrapping to finish these pages.

We'll be making these pages on Wednesday evening at Round Table Pizza (on Madison at Hazel), 7:00 - 9:30. Please RSVP so I can make enough kits.

The pages are made with our Dotty For You paper pack -- the Close To My Heart special celebrating National Scrapbooking Month.  You can get the entire pack -- 24 sheets (2 each of 12 patterns) for just $5 when you make a $35 order.  This special ends on May 31.

All the Dotty for You paper has dots on one side and a pattern on the reverse. You can mix and match them to show only dots or lots of patterns  -- your choice.  The large center/right section is random stamped.

All the cut-out pieces were done on the Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge.

Memories of Stampin' Memories

I am still trying to catch up on my sleep after a great weekend with my stampin' and scrappin' buddies at Stampin' Memories. Four times a year we occupy the Bradley House in Folsom and lose ourselves in a frenzy of stamping, glueing, die-cutting, texturing, embellishing and just about anything else you can think up to do with pretty paper and photos. Oh, and then there are the breakfasts (indescribably beautiful and delish), homemade cookies and cupcakes in the afternoon, and a bit of wine tasting in the evenings. We share ideas, celebrate completed projects, and win fabulous prizes. We tell hilarious stories about our friends and families --- and our own foibles. We laugh a lot and stay up much too late. It's fantastic. Can you tell I love it?

 

Amazingly, amongst all the fun, I even got a few little projects done.

I won this great 7 Gypsies Mouse Trap Memo Board in the White Elephant exchange and spent most of Saturday, turning it into a cute reminder board using our new Buzz and Bumble paper.

 

 



Another layout - this one has pictures from our first trip up to visit Joey after he started his job at Sugar Bowl. I made my own background paper with random stamping.

 

 

 

Finally, here are a few cards and a photo cube I made. The paisley card uses the triple stamping technique that's so popular now. The butterfly cards were made with a Martha Stewart punch and a Cuttlebug texture plate (very easy).  Of course the photo cube is all about Joey.

Studio J Layouts for CTMH Convention

Wow, only 22 days left before Close To My Heart Convention!  My friends Sally and Anne and I are getting geared up, psyched up, revved up ---- you name it! We're UP for this. In just about three weeks we'll be heading for Dallas, Texas along with hundreds of our fellow consultants.

In case you haven't heard us talk about it, our convention is three days of total immersion in the CTMH world -- new products, card swaps, demonstrations, business classes, "celebrity" sightings, card swaps, super make-n-takes and card swaps. We get our first look at the new Autumn/Winter catalog, browse through tons of artwork up close and personal, and just swarm around with hundreds of like-minded folks. Can you imagine the energy of a ballroom filled to capacity with (mostly) women screaming and swooning over new products, laughing hysterically at the staff's antics, cheering wildly (and maybe dropping a tear or two) over Jeanette's true life stories? It's awesome.

The "show" is always great at Convention. Every day starts with a general session and the production values are great. Jeanette must include a humor screening in the corporate hiring process because the CTMH staff who come to Convention are warm, witty, and willing to go the extra mile to be hilarious. We've seen videos, skits, musical dance numbers and game shows -- not to mention funny wigs, outrageous costumes and celebrity impersonations. (Picture Jeanette Lynton as Donald Trump!)

Every year, CTMH adds something new to the Convention experience. This year they're offering us a terrific perk -- each consultant who attends Convention gets five free Studio J layouts. CTMH created a series of projects to help us hone our skills on our exclusive online design software. Now I have to admit --- it's fabulous! I learned a bunch of new tricks -- it really is amazing what you can do with a bit of imagination.  Just to give you a taste, here are the layouts I made:

Here's a 2-page layout I made last week.  The paper is Wonderland, from the newest Close to My Heart Idea Book. These are pictures from Joey's last day of snowboarding last year.

I had lots of fun with these embellishments.  The chipboard pieces are Irresistibles - the designs are a resist that appears when you sponge ink on the surface.  The snowflakes are Top Coats Icing Overlays - transparencies that coordinate with Wonderland.
